It's an extra special privilege being asked to photograph people you already know and love. I’ve known Mya for a couple of years now—she volunteers in the kids ministry at our church and has occasionally watched my kiddos. She’s kind, patient, and has bubbly personality thats magnetic to kids and adults alike. So when she reached out about engagement and wedding packages, I was thrilled.

We met on a breezy May evening at Bangor City Forest, which holds a special place in Dawson and Mya’s story—it’s where they had their very first date. The wind had some strength in the open areas, but the forest was quiet and glowing with soft spring light filtering through the trees, wrapping everything in the most beautiful golden haze.

Dawson and Mya are so in love. From the start, they were full of laughter, playful energy, and sweet, quiet moments that felt effortless and true. Their joy was contagious, and capturing their dynamic—equal parts fun and tender—was an absolute dream.

As the evening went on, we left Bangor and headed to a special spot in Winterport. Dawson uses his truck for work and currently lives a couple hours from Mya, so naturally we had to include it. We barely made it before the sun dipped fully behind the trees. It felt like we were witnessing something truly intimate: two people fully themselves, completely comfortable in each other’s arms, and ready to step into the next chapter of their lives together.

I’m beyond excited to capture Dawson and Mya’s wedding day this October in Eustis, Maine. If their engagement session is any indication, it’s going to be a celebration full of love, light, and so much joy.
